The 7 Pillars
Of Neurocoaching

7 Pillars Of Neurocoaching

01
Powered by neuroscience
NeuroCoaching integrates contemplative neuroscience with the 12 strategies of Compassionate Communication documented in the Journal of Executive Education.
02
Ignite intuitive brain states
NeuroCoaching incorporates a new brain-based learning protocol developed at Loyola Marymount University. This includes the use of a mindfulness bell and clock, relaxation techniques, daydreaming strategies, and inner values exercises that stimulate the intuitive processes of the brain.
03
Coaching works better with nueral-resonance
Our conscious mind can only hold about 10 words for 10 seconds in working memory. NeuroCoaching uses face-to-face video conferencing to create an intensive dialogue between coach and client using brief sentences. Emphasis is placed on facial expressions, tone of voice, body language, deep listening, and intuition. These strategies have been documented in the book Words Can Change Your Brain, by Mark Waldman and Andrew Newberg, MD.
04
Quickly identify problems and goals

Neuro-Coaching can solve your issues in 1-3 sessions (far less time than traditional coaching and therapy).

The principles of Neuro-Coaching integrate behavior-changing strategies with other therapeutic models. The objective is to identify problems and goals while you remain in a deep state of relaxed awareness.

05
Evidence-based methodology
Neuro-Coaching is modeled on evidence-based neuroscientific research covering mindfulness, relaxation, stress-reduction, guided imagery, and other experiential protocols described in the research by Waldman, Newberg, Ekman, Panksepp, Siegel, Davidson, and Pillay.
06
A duet of minds
Both coach and client are viewed as co-collaborators in the pursuit of specific goals and desires the client identifies. In this “client-centered” approach, neither person presents more authority or wisdom than the other.
07
Clear the mental malware
One out of four people have experienced some form of trauma and abuse, which often leaves memories that undermine confidence, self-esteem, and relational performance. A special Neuro-coaching protocol has been developed that will quickly reduce the negative effects of these experiences.

Josiah Z. Hultgren

Josiah Hultgren is Founder of MindFullyAlive, a Senior Lecturer at California Lutheran University, a Certified NeuroCoach, a featured neuroscience writer at Medium, and the leader of the Consciousness Hacking group in Santa Barbara, CA. Josiah is also among the top three hosts of the legendary cult comedy/philosophy podcast The Henhouse. He has taught at Esalen, the epicenter of the Human Potential Movement.

For over a decade, he has been mentored by Mark Robert Waldman, one of the world’s leading researchers in practical-neuroscience according to Time Magazine.

In 2013, Josiah’s brain made a left-turn and smashed into a state of kensho – sprinkling infernos of curiosity about the existential relationship of consciousness, qualia, and brain-states upon the landscape of his mind. Josiah now creates and curates research-backed techniques to optimize the brain for the best possible multiverse.
